The Gameshow Marriages and Engagements that Came to an End in 2020

The Bachelor and its many spinoffs have offered a beacon of hope for singles looking for love. While the goal of the show is to turn the bachelor into the fiancé, sometimes they later turn into the divorcé. 2020, with its seemingly endless hardships, saw the unfortunate end to many Bachelor and Bachelorette relationships.

Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum

The season seven Bachelorette, Ashley Hebert, and her husband who she met on the show, J.P. Rosenbaum, announced their decision to divorce this October. The pair married the year after their 2011 television stint. In their eight years of marriage, they’ve welcomed two kids, Fordham Rhys and Essex Reese. J.P. took to Instagram to explain that the split was amicable and the last move after exhausting their options to work to save their relationship.

Becca Kufrin and Garrett Yrigoyen

The Bachelorette’s season 14 star, Becca Kufrin, met Garrett Yrigoyen two years ago on the show. The two were engaged to be wed, but recent political events have caused the pair to reevaluate their compatibility and ultimately end the relationship.

Chris Randone and Krystal Nielson

The Bachelor in Paradise season five stars announced their divorce on Valentine’s Day, after almost eight months as husband and wife. The two struggled with the constant spotlight but spoke publicly on Instagram to reassure fans that they still love and care for each other but are taking this opportunity to focus on personal growth.

Other Breakups

Though not previously married or engaged, Bachelor Nation fans were equally devastated by two more breakups of show favorites.

Season five Bachelor in Paradise Stars Joe Amabile and Kendall Long decided to split in January after having moved in together. The television personalities attribute their decision largely to Joe’s wanting to return home to Chicago.

Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph also stunned fans with the news of their breakup. The Bachelor’s season 23 couple broke up before talks of engagement could come to fruition, deciding they were best suited for a platonic relationship. Cassie has since filed for a restraining order against Colton, thus invalidating any fan theories that the two will rekindle their relationship.
